Launching a Shopify Store in Morocco: What to Set Up First
Payments, delivery partners, Arabic and French storefronts, and the settings Moroccan Shopify merchants get wrong in their first month.
Shopify works well in Morocco, but the default setup assumes a market where card payments dominate and returns are cheap. Neither is true here.
Payments
Shopify Payments is not available for Moroccan entities, so you need a local gateway or an international processor plus cash on delivery. COD still drives a large share of Moroccan orders, so build it in from day one.
Delivery
Integrate a local courier that covers small cities, not only the Casablanca–Rabat corridor. Publish delivery time per zone on the product page — it reduces abandoned carts more than any discount.
Language
- French for product detail and checkout.
- Arabic for trust content, delivery info and support.
- Darija in ads and social captions, where it converts best.
The COD reality
Refused deliveries are the single largest cost for Moroccan stores. Confirm orders by phone or WhatsApp before dispatch, and expect a real refusal rate to plan against.
